Quidditch, the wizarding sport

Quidditch is a wizarding sport played in Wizarding School. It is described as an extremely rough, but very popular, semi-contact sport, played by wizards and witches around the world. Matches are played between two teams of seven players riding flying broomsticks, using four balls and six elevated ring-shaped goals.

Hogwarts houses: Slytherin

Slytherin is one of the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was born under Salazar Slytherin, from whom it gets the name. The house especially values ambition and determination. Its symbol (animal) is the snake and its colours are green and silver. The Bloody Baron is the house ghost.

The Slytherin Common Room (the place where the Slytherin students spend their time and do their homework) is in the dungeons of Hogwarts and is placed under The Black Lake, in the school grounds.

The house has a negative reputation, with a lot of people saying that it is the house from where almost all dark wizards in Britain, notably Tom Riddle (Voldemort), came from.
The house is usually in competition with the Griffindor house, as they "don't like each other on principle".

The head (ruler) of Slytherin house is Severus Snape and in the 7th book Horace Slughorn.

Hogwarts houses: Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw is one of the four houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was born under Rowena Ravenclaw, from whom it gets the name. The house especially values intelligence. Its symbol (animal) is the eagle and its colours are blue and bronze. The Grey Lady is the house ghost and when she was alive she was Helena Ravenclaw, daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw.
The Ravenclaw Common Room (the place where the Ravenclaw students spend their time and do their homework) is in Ravenclaw Tower, on the west side of the Castle. At the door the students must answer a riddle that the eagle-shaped door knocker asks them.
The head (ruler) of Ravenclaw house is Filius Flitwick.

Hogwarts houses: Hufflepuff

Hufflepuff is one of the four houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was born under Helga Hufflepuff, from whom it gets the name. The house especially values hard work, patience, friendship and fair play. Its symbol (animal) is the badger and its colours are black and yellow. The Fat Friar is the house ghost.
The Hufflepuff Common Room door (the place where the Hufflepuff students spend their time and do their homework) is near the kitchens, in the dungeons. It is a quite cozy and welcoming place, not at all like a dungeon. In the room there are yellow hangings and fat armchairs, with little underground tunnels that take the students to their sleeping rooms. The tunnels have round doors like barrel-tops.

Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor

Gryffindor is one of the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was born under Godric Gryffindor, from whom it gets the name. The house especially values courage. Its symbol (animal) is the lion and its colours are scarlet(red) and gold. Nearly Headless Nick is the house ghost. The Gryffindors always rival with the Slytherins.

The Gryffindor Common Room (the place where the Griffindor students spend their time and do their homework) is placed in one of the castle's towers, at the seventh floor. At the door, there is the Fat Lady, or the Lady who is fat. She lets the students in only after they give her the password (which changes for time to time). The Fat Lady is wearing a pink dress. In the room there is a fireplace, many chairs and tables, and two pair of stairs which take the girls and boys to their sleeping rooms.

The head (ruler) of Gryffindor house is Minerva McGonagall.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a fictional boarding school in J. K. Rowling's best-selling Harry Potter series. It is a school of magic for witches and wizards between the ages of eleven and seventeen living in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Severus Snape

Severus Snape is a fictional character in the Harry Potter book series written by J.K. Rowling. In the first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (published as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United States), he is built up to be the primary villain until the final chapters. As the series progresses, Snape's character becomes more layered and complex, and Rowling does not fully reveal the details of his true loyalties until the end of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Snape appears in all seven novels of the series.

Over the course of the series, Snape's portrayal evolves from that of a malicious and partisan teacher, to that of a pivotal character of considerable complexity and moral ambiguity. Snape teaches Potions at Hogwarts, and later becomes the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher in the sixth novel, and becomes the Headmaster of Hogwarts in the final novel.

Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy is a fictional character and a major antagonist in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. He is a Slytherin student in Harry Potter's year. He is frequently accompanied by his two accomplices, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, who act as bodyguards. Although Draco is often regarded as a cowardly bully who uses psychological manipulation and verbal taunts to denigrate his victims, he reveals an ability to cunningly wield magic to attain his objectives. Malfoy served as the main antagonist of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Lord Voldemort

Lord Voldemort (born as Tom Marvolo Riddle) is the primary antagonist of the Harry Potter series written by British author J. K. Rowling. Voldemort first appeared in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (published as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United States), which was released in 1997. Voldemort appeared either in person or in flashbacks in each book and film adaptation in the series, except the third, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where he is only mentioned. Voldemort has been voted number one in polls for literary and film villains.

In the series, Voldemort is the archenemy of Harry Potter, who according to a prophecy has "the power to vanquish the Dark Lord". Voldemort's obsession with blood purity signifies his aim to rid the Wizarding world of Muggle (non-magical) heritage and to conquer both worlds, Muggle and Wizarding, to achieve pure-blood dominance. Almost no witch or wizard dares to speak his name, instead referring to him as "You-Know-Who", "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" or the "Dark Lord". He was born Tom Marvolo Riddle, the last descendant of wizard Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Albus Dumbledore

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is a major protagonist in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. For the majority of the series, he is the headmaster of the wizarding school Hogwarts. As part of his back-story, it is revealed that he is the founder and leader of the Order of the Phoenix, an organisation dedicated to fighting the main antagonist of the series, Lord Voldemort.

Harry Potter characters

Rubeus Hagrid

Rubeus Hagrid is a teacher and groundskeeper at Hogwarts, friend of Harry, Ron,and Hermione. He is also a "half-giant" which means his mom is a giant and his dad is not. He has a brother named Grawp. In the movies, Hagrid is played by Robbie Coltrane.

Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts after The Government thought he had opened the Chamber of Secrets. This was not true, and Hagrid was proved innocent by Harry Potter.

Hagrid is also friends with Madame Maxime, it is not known if they were together in a romantic way.

Ron Weasley

Ronald Bilius "Ron" Weasley is a character from the Harry Potter stories. He is a red haired child, who comes from a poor background. He wishes he had money. He comes from a big family, with five brothers and one sister. He is Harry Potter's best friend. It is revealed in later books, that Ron is romantically interested in Hermione Granger. The two are hinted to be romantically involved in the Deathly Hallows.

Hermione Granger

Hermione Granger is a character from the Harry Potter series. She is one of Harry's best friends. She spends a lot of time with Harry and Ron Weasley. Her parents are Muggles (not magical) though she is very clever and a very good witch. Because of her Muggle background, she sometimes gets confused in situations - like in the first book, though she knew the spell for making fire, she cried, "There's no wood!" She gets better at thinking faster as the series goes on. Her mind is full of intelligence and her forte is the ability to remember all that she has read. Due to this, Hermione can ace her tests. Her intelligence sometimes means nothing, when it comes to bravery and street-smarts. She can be a little bossy to Ron and Harry. She cares about house-elves and has made the club S.P.E.W., the Society for he Promotion of Elfish Welfare, which Ron calls "Spew." Her appearance is made up of frizzy brown hair, dark brown eyes, and slightly freckled skin. It is also noted at the end of Deathly Hallows that she marries Ron and they have two children together. She belongs to Gryffindor, though the Sorting Hat thought about putting her in Ravenclaw.

Harry Potter

Harry James Potter is the main character and the main protagonist of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter fantasy series. The books cover seven years in the life of the orphan who, on his 11th birthday, learns he is a wizard and the son of magical parents Lily and James Potter. He goes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn magic. Harry soon learns that he is already famous in the world of wizards. He also learns that his fate is connected to Lord Voldemort. Voldemort was the evil wizard who killed Harry's parents but was believed to have died when he tried to use the Killing Curse on the baby Harry. Rowling said that the idea for the Harry Potter character came to her while waiting for a train in 1990. She decided to make him an orphan following the death of her mother.
