Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series. J.K. Rowling, a woman from England, is the writer. It was published in 1997 and a movie version was shown in theaters in 2001. In the United States the book and movie are called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
