English tea / El té inglés

El té es una infusión de las hojas y brotes de la planta del té. La palabra es de etimología china (chá), que tiene varias pronunciaciones según el dialecto chino utilizado. De ellas, dos se exportaron a otros países: "cha" y "". Algunas lenguas tomaron la forma "", como el español o el inglés, y otras tomaron la forma "cha", como el árabe, el portugués, el japonés y el ruso.

En Inglaterra llegó a todas las clases sociales, pobres y ricos lo bebían. Hoy, tomar té es una de las características del Reino Unido. Aunque en China se tomaba el té desde mucho antes, hoy en día es tomado por más gente que en cualquier otro país del mundo.

In England arrived to all the social classes, poor and rich drank it. Today, take tea is one of the characteristics of the United Kingdom. Although in China took the tea from a lot before, nowadays is taken by more people that in any another country of the world.

The traditional and full english breakfast


Los ingredientes normales de un desayuno completo inglés o full English breakfast tradicional son panceta, huevos, tomates fritos o a la parrilla, champiñones fritos, pan frito o tostada, y salchichas, acompañado normalmente de una taza de té. En algunas regiones se añade morcilla además de sobras de puré de patatas fritas (llamadas pastel de patata) Originalmente una forma de aprovechar la verdura sobrante de la comida principal del día anterior, el bubble and squeak o fritura plana de sobras vegetales con patata, se ha convertido en parte del desayuno inglés por derecho propio. Las baked beans (judías de lata) y hash browns (tiras de patata frita)son añadidos modernos.

Hay que reconocer que no es un desayuno sano pues tiene mucha grasa y mucho colesterol. Además, no usan aceite de oliva sino mantequilla para cocinar.

Hogwarts houses: Slytherin


Slytherin is one of the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was born under Salazar Slytherin, from whom it gets the name. The house especially values ambition and determination. Its symbol (animal) is the snake and its colours are green and silver. The Bloody Baron is the house ghost.


The Slytherin Common Room (the place where the Slytherin students spend their time and do their homework) is in the dungeons of Hogwarts and is placed under The Black Lake, in the school grounds.

The house has a negative reputation, with a lot of people saying that it is the house from where almost all dark wizards in Britain, notably Tom Riddle (Voldemort), came from.
The house is usually in competition with the Griffindor house, as they "don't like each other on principle".

The head (ruler) of Slytherin house is Severus Snape and in the 7th book Horace Slughorn.

Hogwarts houses: Ravenclaw


Ravenclaw is one of the four houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was born under Rowena Ravenclaw, from whom it gets the name. The house especially values intelligence. Its symbol (animal) is the eagle and its colours are blue and bronze. The Grey Lady is the house ghost and when she was alive she was Helena Ravenclaw, daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw.
The Ravenclaw Common Room (the place where the Ravenclaw students spend their time and do their homework) is in Ravenclaw Tower, on the west side of the Castle. At the door the students must answer a riddle that the eagle-shaped door knocker asks them.
The head (ruler) of Ravenclaw house is Filius Flitwick.

Hogwarts houses: Hufflepuff



Hufflepuff is one of the four houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was born under Helga Hufflepuff, from whom it gets the name. The house especially values hard work, patience, friendship and fair play. Its symbol (animal) is the badger and its colours are black and yellow. The Fat Friar is the house ghost.
The Hufflepuff Common Room door (the place where the Hufflepuff students spend their time and do their homework) is near the kitchens, in the dungeons. It is a quite cozy and welcoming place, not at all like a dungeon. In the room there are yellow hangings and fat armchairs, with little underground tunnels that take the students to their sleeping rooms. The tunnels have round doors like barrel-tops.
The head (ruler) of Hufflepuff house is Pomona Sprout.

Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor


Gryffindor is one of the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was born under Godric Gryffindor, from whom it gets the name. The house especially values courage. Its symbol (animal) is the lion and its colours are scarlet(red) and gold. Nearly Headless Nick is the house ghost. The Gryffindors always rival with the Slytherins.

The Gryffindor Common Room (the place where the Griffindor students spend their time and do their homework) is placed in one of the castle's towers, at the seventh floor. At the door, there is the Fat Lady, or the Lady who is fat. She lets the students in only after they give her the password (which changes for time to time). The Fat Lady is wearing a pink dress. In the room there is a fireplace, many chairs and tables, and two pair of stairs which take the girls and boys to their sleeping rooms.

The head (ruler) of Gryffindor house is Minerva McGonagall.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a fictional boarding school in J. K. Rowling's best-selling Harry Potter series. It is a school of magic for witches and wizards between the ages of eleven and seventeen living in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Severus Snape


Severus Snape is a fictional character in the Harry Potter book series written by J.K. Rowling. In the first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (published as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United States), he is built up to be the primary villain until the final chapters. As the series progresses, Snape's character becomes more layered and complex, and Rowling does not fully reveal the details of his true loyalties until the end of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Snape appears in all seven novels of the series.

Over the course of the series, Snape's portrayal evolves from that of a malicious and partisan teacher, to that of a pivotal character of considerable complexity and moral ambiguity. Snape teaches Potions at Hogwarts, and later becomes the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher in the sixth novel, and becomes the Headmaster of Hogwarts in the final novel.

Draco Malfoy


Draco Malfoy is a fictional character and a major antagonist in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. He is a Slytherin student in Harry Potter's year. He is frequently accompanied by his two accomplices, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, who act as bodyguards. Although Draco is often regarded as a cowardly bully who uses psychological manipulation and verbal taunts to denigrate his victims, he reveals an ability to cunningly wield magic to attain his objectives. Malfoy served as the main antagonist of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Lord Voldemort


Lord Voldemort (born as Tom Marvolo Riddle) is the primary antagonist of the Harry Potter series written by British author J. K. Rowling. Voldemort first appeared in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (published as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United States), which was released in 1997. Voldemort appeared either in person or in flashbacks in each book and film adaptation in the series, except the third, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where he is only mentioned. Voldemort has been voted number one in polls for literary and film villains.

In the series, Voldemort is the archenemy of Harry Potter, who according to a prophecy has "the power to vanquish the Dark Lord". Voldemort's obsession with blood purity signifies his aim to rid the Wizarding world of Muggle (non-magical) heritage and to conquer both worlds, Muggle and Wizarding, to achieve pure-blood dominance. Almost no witch or wizard dares to speak his name, instead referring to him as "You-Know-Who", "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" or the "Dark Lord". He was born Tom Marvolo Riddle, the last descendant of wizard Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Albus Dumbledore


Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is a major protagonist in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. For the majority of the series, he is the headmaster of the wizarding school Hogwarts. As part of his back-story, it is revealed that he is the founder and leader of the Order of the Phoenix, an organisation dedicated to fighting the main antagonist of the series, Lord Voldemort.

Harry Potter characters


Rubeus Hagrid


Rubeus Hagrid is a teacher and groundskeeper at Hogwarts, friend of Harry, Ron,and Hermione. He is also a "half-giant" which means his mom is a giant and his dad is not. He has a brother named Grawp. In the movies, Hagrid is played by Robbie Coltrane.

Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts after The Government thought he had opened the Chamber of Secrets. This was not true, and Hagrid was proved innocent by Harry Potter.

Hagrid is also friends with Madame Maxime, it is not known if they were together in a romantic way.

Ron Weasley


Ronald Bilius "Ron" Weasley is a character from the Harry Potter stories. He is a red haired child, who comes from a poor background. He wishes he had money. He comes from a big family, with five brothers and one sister. He is Harry Potter's best friend. It is revealed in later books, that Ron is romantically interested in Hermione Granger. The two are hinted to be romantically involved in the Deathly Hallows.

Hermione Granger


Hermione Granger is a character from the Harry Potter series. She is one of Harry's best friends. She spends a lot of time with Harry and Ron Weasley. Her parents are Muggles (not magical) though she is very clever and a very good witch. Because of her Muggle background, she sometimes gets confused in situations - like in the first book, though she knew the spell for making fire, she cried, "There's no wood!" She gets better at thinking faster as the series goes on. Her mind is full of intelligence and her forte is the ability to remember all that she has read. Due to this, Hermione can ace her tests. Her intelligence sometimes means nothing, when it comes to bravery and street-smarts. She can be a little bossy to Ron and Harry. She cares about house-elves and has made the club S.P.E.W., the Society for he Promotion of Elfish Welfare, which Ron calls "Spew." Her appearance is made up of frizzy brown hair, dark brown eyes, and slightly freckled skin. It is also noted at the end of Deathly Hallows that she marries Ron and they have two children together. She belongs to Gryffindor, though the Sorting Hat thought about putting her in Ravenclaw.

Harry Potter


Harry James Potter is the main character and the main protagonist of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter fantasy series. The books cover seven years in the life of the orphan who, on his 11th birthday, learns he is a wizard and the son of magical parents Lily and James Potter. He goes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn magic. Harry soon learns that he is already famous in the world of wizards. He also learns that his fate is connected to Lord Voldemort. Voldemort was the evil wizard who killed Harry's parents but was believed to have died when he tried to use the Killing Curse on the baby Harry. Rowling said that the idea for the Harry Potter character came to her while waiting for a train in 1990. She decided to make him an orphan following the death of her mother.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" is the seventh and last book in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. The book was released worldwide on July 21, 2007 to an excited crowd. It became the fastest-selling book ever, with 8.3 million copies sold in the U.S. during the first 24 hours.

The film will be released in 2010, but on March 8, 2008, it was announced that the film will be split into two parts; part one is due on November 19, 2010 and part two is due on July 15, 2011.

Throughout the books, Joanne Rowling has introduced a lot of different ideas and a great number of characters. While the stories are set in a magical world with sets of magical rules, the basic idea or philosophy of the story is about how real people behave toward each other. In the seventh book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", the author draws all the ideas and people together.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince


Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was written by J. K. Rowling and published on the 16 July 2005. The book is the sixth Harry Potter book.

In the sixth book Harry begins his sixth year at the magical school Hogwarts with his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. During the year he has help in his worst class by the mysterious Half-Blood Prince, he has his first romance and learns several very important facts about his enemy, Voldemort.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth book in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The book was released July 21, 2003. It is about Harry's his fifth year at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Lord Voldemort has come back. Except for Albus Dumbledore, most people do not believe him. A film based on the book was released in 2007.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth book in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. It was published on 8 July, 2000. It was made into a movie that came out in 2005.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book in the "Harry Potter" series by J. K. Rowling. The book was released on July 8, 1999. It which covers Harry Potter's third year at Hogwarts. A film based on the book was released on May 31, 2004.

Harry Potter books


The Harry Potter books are a popular series of fantasy books by J. K. Rowling. The character Harry Potter is the hero in the stories.

In the books, the fantasy is about magic. Harry Potter is born with the power to do magic, as he is a wizard. He soon discovers that there are a lot of magic people, other wizard and witches, in the world, living unknown to most non-magical people (known as "muggles"). When he is eleven, he gets a letter inviting him to go to a boarding school called Hogwarts for young witches and wizards. Each book tells about one year of his life at school, about the people that he meets there, the things that he learns, and his adventures.

There are seven books total in the series. A series of movies about the first six books has been made by Warner Bros. They started making the movies in 2001. The sixth one, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, was released on July 7, 2009. The first half of the final movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released in late November, 2010.
